Karen Novak is the leader, lead singer, songwriter , producer and keyboard player of the KAREN SINGLE BAND, ( original rock) WELDERS DAUGHTER ( country originals covers ) and ROCKNAGYI ( new Hungarian blues rock band) The band in its many incarnations and names has stayed intact since they began their legacy in 1997. Touring across Canada and now into Europe. The first KSB album "WIDE OPEN " was originally released in 2001 and was re released in 2024 in its new form. It is now tuned to 432hz ,re mastered, and includes a 16 page story booklet to be included in Karens theatrical rock trilogy, "THE REALM OF SPHERES", which is slated to be premiered at Yellowknife’s, Northern Arts and Cultural Centre as part of Karen’s Mentorship program.
She’s a well respected, classically trained musician , scriptwriter and multi instrumentalist, and an actress with live theatre, including lead role in the musical “ Mama Mia” 2023, several television credits that includes being a semi finalist on Hungarys talent tv show “ Sztarban Sztar” in 2024, that had her dubbed as the grandmother of rock or “ Rocknagyi” . A triple threat , she is also a visual artist and won the “ people’s choice award” in 2015 at the Great Northern Art Festival. She has carved out her unique and successful niche in the north’s music and art community.
She won the prestigious 2019 Ministers’ Heritage and Culture Circle award for her contributions to the arts in the NWT.
An advocate and someone constantly bridging many different groups of people, She has sat on many music industry boards including as president on Music Nwt, and representing the territories for WCMA, and BOW. She has been touring and performing consistently ,full-time , for the last 28 years, and is now embarking on expanding her music and career with eyes on new international markets.

Karen Novak has consistently been in leadership positions since her teens. Successfully self employed and active in all things music. She has management, tech and organizational skills. A speaker and facilitator for several different events and conferences. She motivates and inspires. A successful track record in creating and executing special events. She has proven sales abilities, is a visual artist with a creative "think outside of the box" attitude as well as patience , works with special needs, and has a willingness to continue learning new skills. She's sat on several boards in various positions and has contributed to her communities wherever she has landed.
