Joelle Rose is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, music teacher, and Master’s student from Mississauga, Ontario. Her debut single, Birdhouse, was unanimously selected by an esteemed jury as the Song of the Year for the City of Mississauga for 2025. Lyrically, Birdhouse is a platonic love song about the importance of friendship and community. The chorus lyric, 'if family's a tree, you're a birdhouse', reflects how people we love become like family, even if not connected by blood.

Joelle merges her passion for vocal music and health sciences in her studies, pursuing a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. She is thrilled to be performing across Ontario this fall, most notably as a Spotlight Showcase Artist at the Folk Music Ontario Conference for 2025.

As a long-time chorister and staff member for six years at the Mississauga Children’s Choir, performer in local musical theatre, and alumna of the Regional Arts Music Program for voice at Cawthra Park Secondary, Joelle credits her musical upbringing to the city of Mississauga. Growing up in a household of two different cultures, with her father’s side immigrating from Croatia and her mother’s side from Hong Kong, she discovered early on that performing music was a way to connect with and bring her family together. She began her musical journey at the age of four when she started taking piano lessons. Throughout her entire life, Joelle has found joy, community, and a sense of identity in sharing music with others. She feels the most herself when sharing her original music, and feels the most seen when others connect with it.
