Where were you at in your music career when you had your first child? Was there much discussion about how that life choice would affect your career within the music/entertainment industry?
I was in the beginning stages, I had done some concert promotion for French Montana through ILuvLola and still finding my way.
As a working parent in the music industry, what are some of the biggest challenges you face or have faced?
Trying to balance networking events and showing up for clients and making sure to not miss milestones in my daughter’s life (big or small) I prioritize always being there to support her.
What is one change (big or small) within the industry that could make a positive impact for working parents?
More support for parents to be able to get sitters when things pop up last minute and providing stable benefits to ensure your children are taken care of.
How do you find support and community with other working parents in or out of the music industry?
I’m still figuring it out. I talk to other people that have children and depending on where they are in their journey, they have varying perspectives.
What’s one specific example of an organization/venue/company doing something great to help support working parents?
Moms in Music highlighting working parents in the industry and providing a platform to display their journeys.
What could a music event (festival, conference, etc.), do or provide to make it easier for you to participate?
More flexible date/times within reasonable hours considering commuting and parking being more accessible or hosting kid-friendly events.
