Overview:

Women in Music Canada is dedicated to advancing the careers and artistry of women and gender-diverse individuals in the music industry. As a Board Member, you will play a critical role in guiding the organization’s strategic vision, fostering inclusivity, and ensuring its sustainability and growth.

Women in Music Canada is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse community. We encourage applications from gender-diverse individuals, including those who identify as Black, Indigenous, racialized, or LGBTQ2S+.

This is a volunteer position with a 2 year term.

Key Responsibilities:

    • -Actively participate in quarterly board meetings and committee work, contributing to governance, strategic planning, and oversight.
    • -Assist in developing and executing WIMC’s strategic goals, ensuring alignment with its mission and vision.
    • -Leverage personal and professional networks to enhance the organization’s visibility and reach.
    • -Champion WIMC’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • -Serve on at least one committee related to your expertise.

Qualifications:

- All board members must be women or gender diverse individuals. 

-Expertise in financial management, fundraising, marketing, sponsorship acquisition, event planning, or community advocacy.
-Strong leadership and communication skills, with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
-Passion for WIMC’s mission to support gender equity in the music industry.
-Experience in non-profit governance or board participation (preferred but not required).
-Availability to attend quarterly meetings, committee meetings, and actively support board activities.

 Expectations:

    • -Be an active ambassador for WIMC by promoting its mission and programs within your networks.
    • -Maintain confidentiality and uphold WIMC’s values of equity and integrity.
    • -Make an annual financial contribution or provide in-kind support to help sustain the organization’s programs.
    • -Dedicate approximately 2-5 hours bi-monthly to board and committee activities.

Prioritized Skills & Representation

WIMC has identified the following priorities to ensure our board reflects the diversity of our community:

    • -Skills: Legal, human resource management, DSPs, radio, and publishing/copyright.
    • -Demographics: Francophone, Black, Indigenous, or racialized individuals, as well as those under 30 or over 40 years of age.
    • -Geography: Candidates located outside of Ontario.
