She is the 2025 East Coast Music Awards winner of Children’s Artist of the Year, and a 2026 Canadian Folk Music Awards Nominee for Children’s Album of the Year. She is a disabled artist bringing frank and open discussion about disability and inclusion for all, kindness, empathy, and belonging, both through her June 2025 album "Together", which has garnered significant press coverage including a liev CTV Your Morning national interview, and her upcoming bilingual school tour of grade K-6 schools through Prologue Arts in Toronto. “Together” (June 2025), an upbeat mix of funk, pop, and jazz tunes on the themes of inclusion, acceptance, and belonging, offering an inclusive musical world where every child feels seen, celebrated, and empowered. Heather is a proud member of the Board of Directors of The Children’s Music Network, and is a speaker/representative for Lachi's initative RAMPD.org, Recording Artists and Music Professionals with Disabilities. She most recently represented RAMPD.org at Folk Alliance International in a panel discussing navigating the music industry as a professional, and offering support and suggestions to level the playing field to venue owners, festival coordinators, grant agencies, and other disabled folx.
- Written Submission - How would this Honour benefit the nominee?: This award would help highlight the relevance of disabled women in Canadian Music, and the change that they can bring to society through their art. Disability activism in the music industry is more relevant and present in the United States, and I would like for there to be a larger presence in Canada of female artists who are affecting positive impact on inclusion while rejecting ableism and embracing their disability and claiming their place in the field.
