Danica is the perfect nominee because she truly lives and breathes music. Her passion for artists and the craft is not performative by any means, it shows up in her work and in her daily life.
As the Music Supervisor at PIRATE SOUND, she brings not only taste and expertise but a deep appreciation for the musicians she supports.
She is the person who is at the major tour stops and the tiny local showcases, with an ear for talent at every level.
Beyond her core role, Danica actively takes on leadership in the community. She speaks on panels, mentors junior talent entering the industry, and pushes for higher standards in the work around her. She questions, she leads and raises the bar for herself without being asked.
Her combination of passion, advocacy, and impact makes her an exceptional fit for " "Women In Music Canada: Rising Leader in Canada” - Written Submission - How do you know the person / company: I am a colleague of Danica’s at PIRATE SOUND, where I work as the Community Manager. I’ve worked with her for a little over a year, but when she joined, it felt like we’d known her forever. She is a genuine person whose character has shined through since day one. It truly is clear as to why she has been the perfect fit as our Music Supervisor. Danica has showed me the ropes of the music industry, the ins and outs of connecting with like-minded people, understanding our audience, and navigating this field. Danica has a natural ability to mentor and guide. She has helped me grow both professionally and personally, just as she has to many others who have crossed paths with her.

This Honour would give recognition to Danica’s passion, dedication, and impact in the music industry. Her drive to support artists, mentor colleagues, and elevate standards is worth celebrating!
Danica’s accomplishments only push her to strive for more and despite her success, she never stops learning or staying connected to what’s happening on the ground level. She’s still at shows big and small, championing artists, and mentoring those coming up. She’s not just talented and driven, she’s truly a face for women and black excellence in music, showing what leadership, passion, and authenticity look like.
This award would amplify her voice and platform, helping her continue to inspire, mentor, and shape the next generation of music professionals.
